Board Meeting Minutes

May 12, 2004, 2004, 11:30 AM

Lake Center Bar & Grille, Annandale  MN

 President Marlene Young called the meeting to order at 11:30 AM.

Attendance:   19 Members

 Adoption / Amendment of Agenda: Jeff Lundquist made a motion to accept the agenda. Karen Pitra 2nd the motion.  Motion carried.

 Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes: Karen Pitra made a motion to accept the minutes of the April  2004 meeting. Jeff Lundquist 2nd the motion.   Motion carried.

 New Business in the Community:  Snotty Fox Gallery & Gifts

 Correspondence:  Annandale School District asking for all Chamber events dates for the school calendar.

Treasurer’s Report:  Jeff Burkhardt gave a detailed report. Marlene Young made a motion to approve treasurer’s report.  Charlene Donnelly 2nd the motion.  Motion carried.

Committee Reports:

 8.a    Membership Committee

 Largest membership ever in the history of the Annandale Chamber

 8.b    Ambassador Committee

          Will do ribbon cutting ceremony at Snooty Fox Gallery & Gifts at 10 AM Friday,  May 14th.  This is the Grand Opening for the business.

 8.c    Business Expo

          No report

 8.d    All City Garage Sale

          All went great, we had 81 participants this year.   Next years date is the 1st Saturday in May, 2005.

 8.e    Chili Cook-Off

           Date is May 29, 2004, get your registration forms in.  The consensus is that it’s a lot of fun. 

 8.f    Queen’s Committee

          The busy time of the program is starting with a meeting May 23th.  Lots going on for the candidates until the 4th of July..

 8.g    Fourth of July Committee

          Community Education, Barb Jacobsen has volunteered to keep the Kiddie Parade going.   Thank you very much.

8.h    Arts and Crafts

          Will be a great day with lots of vendors.

 8.i    Golf Tournament

         Golf tournament will be Wednesday, August 11th at Albion Golf Course.  It will be an 18-hole, best ball tournament with dinner to follow.

 8.j    Halloween

 8.k   Community Christmas

          No report

 8.l    Social Committee

          No report

 8.m   Chamber Map

           Maps can be picked up at MCP Collision Center.

8.n     Kiosk

 Old Business:

         Business of the Year:

          Derek Groth gave a report on what the criteria will be.  Applications will be going out around October 1st and they will need to be back by November 1st.  A decision will be made by January 2005 and the Business of the Year will be announced at the Chamber social.                    

         All Clown Show (Mooseburger Camp) Jeff Lundquist gave a positive report on the Mooseburger Camp, All Clown Show. It will be held July 24, 2004 at the Annandale High School Football Field.  The clown show will start at 7 PM.    Jeff said that we need to make a payment to the Mooseburger Clown Show for $1000 to get the program started.  Charlene Donnelly made the 1st motion to pay the $1000 and Mike Zieska 2nd the motion. The committee to help Jeff with this endeavor will be Mike Zieska, Sue Heath, and Doug Kantor.

          Annandale Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

          The first recipient of our scholarship is Jamie Mahan.  The scholarship was given  May 5th at the Annandale High School by Marlene Young.

 10.     New Business:

          A discussion was held on possibility of having a pork chop feed.  It will be tabled until the next meeting.

          Also, a discussion was held on support of the performance stage.  The Chamber board will meet before the next meeting to discuss financial possibilities for  supporting the stage.

11.   Upcoming Events/Meetings

         Next meeting:  June 9th at 11:30, Blue Waters Family Restaurant July 24th,  Mooseburger Camp All Clown Show,  7 PM at Annandale High School  Football Field
