Board Meeting Minutes

May 14, 2003, 11:30 AM

Blue Waters Family Restaurant, Annandale  MN

 

 

President Marlene Young called the meeting to order at 11:30 AM.

Attendance:   26 Members – Another Great Turnout!!!

 

Adoption / Amendment of Agenda: 

Doug Kantor made a motion to accept agenda, Kurt Gunnerson 2nd the motion. Motion carried.

 

Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes:

Motion made by Jeff Burkhardt to approve minutes from the April 9th meeting, Charlene Donnelly 2nd the motion.  Motion carried

 

New Business in the Community:

                                                        

Correspondence: A thank you card from Pioneer Park for our donation to the Pancake Breakfast.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Report given by Jeff Burkhardt.  Motion made by Steve Prinsen      to accept treasurer’s report, Karen Pitra 2nd the motion.

 

Committee Reports:

 8.a    Membership Committee

   164 paid members.

 8.b    Ambassador Committee

            No report

 8.c    Business Expo

            Expo was very successful with 109 booths.   Next year’s date is April 3rd, 2004.

             Winner of next year’s free booth is Annandale Video.                           

 8.d    All City Garage Sale

            All city garage sale also was very successful with 70 participants.  It was a      

            beautiful day and successful sales.

 8.e    Chili Cook-Off

           The 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off  will be held Saturday, May 24th.  We have 17 

            participants willing to share their cooking talents. A fun day will be had by         

            participants and judges.

 8.f    Queen’s Committee

          Everything is going along smoothly.   Watch for coming up events!!       

 8.g     Fourth of July Committee

Right on target.

 

8.h     Arts and Crafts

          Date is Saturday August 9th.  Response’s very good on booths.  Krispy Kreme    

          Donuts will be on sale that day.          

 

8.i    Golf Tournament

         Wednesday, July 30th, sign-up sheets will be out soon.  1 pm start for the Golf 

          Tournament, 5:30 PM Social and 6 PM Dinner.           

8.j    Halloween

         Thinking about having a contest for the best costume for the kids, have the          

          businesses’ dress up for Halloween. Will have more discussion on the project next   

          meeting.

8.k   Community Christmas

No report.

8.l    Social Committee

           No report.

                  

9.0    Old Business:

Map Update:  Hopefully by Friday there will be a proof of the map.  By the next meeting maybe we will have the maps completed.

           Kiosk:   No response from the Boy Scout as of the meeting.  All businesses

           should be thinking of what we would like to do with the east side of the kiosk.  

           Please bring your ideas to the June meeting.

           Chili Cook-Off:  Saturday, May 24th  is our 1st Annual cook-off.  17 participants 

           will be sharing their chili.  Come and join in on the fun.

           Culpepper’s Merriweather Circus:  coming to Annandale on Sunday, August 3rd

10     New Business: 

 Better Business Bureau:  Tabled for now, President Marlene Young will check on other cities to see if this is a project we want to endeavor.

 Website Analysis:  Doug Kantor gave a report on the value of our website.  Doug 

 is doing an excellent job on keeping our website up to date.

           Fundraiser Project:  President Marlene Young will be checking with Speltz Studio  

           of Wildlife to see if he can come and present to the chamber what he does.  Jeff     

            Lundquist will check on a local artist for the project.

11.     Upcoming Events/Meetings

           Chili Cook-off – Saturday,  May 24th

           Next meeting:  June 11th, 11:30 AM at Southbrook Golf Course
